I got rewarded CTA!

Johannes Norz, CTA (Citrix Technology Advocate)Two weeks ago Citrix sent me an email saying that they had awarded me as CTA, a Citrix Technology Advocate. It had been released today. It is a great honour to me!

I am one of very few Citrix technicians worldwide who have received this award, the only one in Austria. I also known many of the existing CTAs, and they are all people that I appreciate, some of whom I am friends with, people who I consider to be excellent technicians, the best of their subject.

What is this award for? Yes, it really is an award.

“The main objective of the Citrix Technology Advocate program is to provide Citrix enthusiasts meaningful recognition for their community contributions, provide unique opportunities to connect with Citrix peers and internal stakeholders that will enable a continued growth and performance in their careers”. (Citrix)

Of course, CTAs also have certain advantages, they have a “short path” to Citrix, can (to a small extent) influence product development and much more.

How do you become a CTA? Again: Citrix

CTA Applicants must possess these minimum qualifications:

  • Citrix Product Experience
  • Active member of myCUGC.org
  • Willingness to blog and/or moderate webinar for CUGC and/or Citrix
  • Active social impact
  • Willingness to share expertise amongst CTA’s
  • A passion for community and advocacy of Citrix produc

First things first: You have to invest countless hours in “useless” work. Citrix judges what you blog and post over time. What you write in forums like CUG or forums.citrix.com. It should of course be noted that this “useless work” is fun for the CTA and brings added value for the community. I really enjoy my “useless work”, and sometimes I find out that my work has helped “someone”. It makes me happy, especially if I get positive feedback from these excellent people in our industry (who now are my fellow CTAs).

Yes, sometimes I am accused of being too much an instructor. I want to pass on my knowledge, to customers, to you, my fellow Citrix fans. But that’s exactly what makes a CTA.

Yes, I am proud to be a CTA. I am proud to have been accepted into this group of top-class Citrix technicians, to be a member of this outstanding circle of experts. And I want to serve the community for many years to come. As a CTA!
